Day 15 Sri Ping Muang School ...

First some very sad news...After we got all dressed up and made our way to the Pizza Place...IT WAS CLOSED.  So what is not clear is if it is closed for good or just for night....After all T.I.T applies here, so we are going to investigate it tomorrow night.   Today I am heading into the big city and mingle with the farang...Thai for the foreigners.   I will finish this blog up later this evening once I get back from my big evening out...
Shocking night out...I went to a tourist restaurant in downtown...which is about 2 miles or so from where I am...Well here I am everyday paying 30 BAHT for lunch and dinner  that would be about 80 cents and I look at the menu and they are charging me 100 baht for the same dinner...that is now 2 bucks.   Way expensive for Thailand.  I know all relative ...
So today I was at the same school as yesterday...really like this school because I get to teach outside but we are experiencing a cold wave here right now and it was 58 this morning BRRRR
So it was chilling teaching in the outdoors....
So I thought I might tell you a little about how streets work here.   Everything of course is in Thai so you kind  of have to compare what is in your guidebook against what the street sign says.  There are roads and sois here...Road are just like in the UK and the States and Sois are like small streets that branch off the road.   I am for example on Sutrep Road Soi 7
I rode downtown on a sawngthaew which is like a pickup truck with a cab on the back.   So you pay 20 baht and tell them where you are going.   You climb in and join your fellow travellers who might be going somewhere totally different than you.   You ride around the city dropping off and picking people until you get to your destination.   It helps if you know where you are going as they sometimes pass near it enroute to somewhere else.   Eventually you will get to where you are supposed to be going but you need to relax and enjoy the ride...Rememeber T.I.T  it has its own pace but it happens in time
I will send you all a picture of one tomorrow so you can see my chariot
Oh here is another factoid for you...for every car in Thailand there are 5 motorbikes.   I can attest to that they are like bugs all over the place...
So I thought you might enjoy some more pictures of today.  No one in Thailand wears shoes indoors...So the line up of shoes is from the kids at their morning assembly.   Watching them come out and find their own shoes is pretty amazing since there are 300 plus pair of shoes that all look the same.

  1. We know that you were really looking forward to "something different" for dinner -- so what did you end up eating? more rice?
